Abstract

ABSTRACTIntensive physical activity often leads to muscle soreness, which, if left untreated, can decrease movement quality and functional performance. Sport massage is a popular non-pharmacological recovery method; however, research focusing on its effectiveness based on specific body areas in non-athlete individuals within the context of Physical Education remains limited. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of sport massage in reducing muscle pain complaints based on specific body areas in adults. This study employed a descriptive quantitative design. The subjects consisted of 376 adults with muscle pain complaints. The intervention was performed by 109 senior Physical Education students as field practitioners. The research instrument used a numerical scale (1–4) to measure the level of comfort/pain reduction before and after the intervention across eight major body areas. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that sport massage is highly effective in reducing muscle pain, with a total average score of 3.57 out of 4.0 (89.3%). The calf area was the most responsive to the intervention (92.1%), followed by the back (90.9%), while the gluteal area showed the lowest response score (82.4%).Sport massage is a highly effective recovery method for addressing muscle pain in adults. Variations in effectiveness across body areas suggest the need for adjustments in technique and pressure based on anatomical muscle characteristics to achieve optimal results.
