MITOS DAN KETAKUTAN KOLEKTIF DALAM CERPEN MEMEDI KARYA I WAYAN SUARDIKA MELALUI KAJIAN TEKSTUALITAS BARTHES

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini membahas mitos dan ketakutan kolektif yang dibangun dalam cerpen Memedi karya I Wayan Suardika menggunakan teori tekstualitas Roland Barthes. Mitos merupakan cara masyarakat memberi makna baru pada hal-hal yang mereka percayai, sedangkan ketakutan kolektif merupakan rasa takut bersama yang muncul karena pengaruh cerita dan keyakinan sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan studi dokumen untuk menganalisis lima kode Barthes, yaitu hermeneutik, proairetik, semik, simbolik, dan budaya yang membentuk makna dalam cerpen Memedi. Hasil penelitian yang sudah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa cerpen Memedi membangun mitos melalui teka-teki tentang identitas memedi melalui perilaku dan tindakan Jarna yang memicu peristiwa misterius, suasana angker, simbol pada tubuh yang berubah bentuk, dan keyakinan budaya lokal tentang ruang tenget. Semua unsur ini saling berkaitan dan menumbuhkan ketakutan bersama dalam masyarakat desa. Penelitian ini berkontribusi bagi dunia pendidikan karena dapat membantu memahami bagaimana teks sastra membangun makna serta bagaimana budaya memengaruhi cara masyarakat menafsirkan peristiwa. Pendekatan ini dapat meningkatkan kemampuan analisis, literasi budaya, dan pemahaman siswa terhadap hubungan antara sastra dan kehidupan sosial.Kata kunci: mitos, ketakutan kolektif, tekstualitas Roland Barthes, memedi  ABSTRACTThis study discusses the myths and collective fears constructed in the short story Memedi by I Wayan Suardika using Roland Barthes' theory of textuality. Myths are a way for society to give new meaning to things they believe in, while collective fears are a shared sense of fear that arises due to the influence of stories and social beliefs. This study uses a qualitative method with document analysis to examine Barthes' five codes: hermeneutic, proairetic, semiotic, symbolic, and cultural, which shape meaning in the short story Memedi. The results of the study show that the short story Memedi constructs myths through riddles about the identity of memedi through Jarna's behavior and actions that trigger mysterious events, a haunted atmosphere, symbols on bodies that change shape, and local cultural beliefs about the tenget space. All of these elements are interrelated and foster a shared fear in the village community. This research contributes to the world of education because it can help understand how literary texts construct meaning and how culture influences the way people interpret events. This approach can improve students' analytical skills, cultural literacy, and understanding of the relationship between literature and social life.Keywords: myth, collective fear, Roland Barthes' textuality, memedi
