Peluang dan Tantangan Pendekatan Riset dalam Inovasi Kurikulum Matematika: Studi Kasus di SMP

Inovasi kurikulum matematika menjadi kebutuhan penting untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dan menjawab tuntutan pendidikan abad ke-21. Salah satu strategi yang berpotensi diterapkan adalah pendekatan riset yang menekankan pengambilan keputusan berbasis data dan praktik pembelajaran reflektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis peluang dan tantangan penerapan pendekatan riset dalam inovasi kurikulum matematika pada jenjang SMP. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus yang dilaksanakan di salah satu SMP negeri di Kabupaten Mandailing Natal, Sumatera Utara. Partisipan penelitian terdiri atas dua guru matematika dan delapan siswa. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi pembelajaran, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman dengan teknik triangulasi untuk menjamin keabsahan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan riset memiliki peluang besar dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar, kemampuan berpikir kritis, kolaborasi, keaktifan, dan pemahaman konsep siswa melalui pembelajaran yang kontekstual serta berpusat pada peserta didik. Selain itu, pendekatan ini selaras dengan Kurikulum Merdeka yang mendorong pembelajaran fleksibel dan adaptif. Namun, implementasinya masih menghadapi tantangan berupa keterbatasan waktu pembelajaran, perbedaan kompetensi guru dalam melakukan penelitian kelas, serta keterbatasan sarana dan media pembelajaran. Disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan riset berpotensi kuat mendukung inovasi kurikulum matematika apabila didukung pengembangan profesional guru, budaya sekolah kolaboratif, fasilitas memadai, dan komitmen institusional. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa keberhasilan reformasi kurikulum memerlukan sinergi antara guru, sekolah, dan pembuat kebijakan.
