The Relationship Between Food Security and Food Diversity with Stunting Prevalence in Toddlers Aged Under 59 Months

Abstract

This systematic review examines the relationship between food security and food diversity and the prevalence of stunting in children aged under 59 months. Based on various studies, in the last 9 years (2013-2024) this research investigated the influence of food insecurity, food security and food diversity and their influence on the incidence of stunting. The method involves synthesizing data from various contexts to identify the relationship between food security the diversity of food received by children under five and the prevalence of stunting. This research conducted a systematic journal review using three academic databases (PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar) with publication ranges from 2013 to 2024. The journal review guidelines use Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA). The research results show that there is a relationship between food security and food diversity and the incidence of stunting prevalence. This study found 10 studies that explored the relationship between food security, food diversity, and the prevalence of stunting in children under 59 months. In conclusion, this systematic observation shows that there is a relationship between food security, food diversity, and the prevalence of stunting in children under 59 months. We need to slow down the need to reduce stunting comprehensively, including the availability of food security and food diversity so that stunting reduction can be accelerated.
