Publication Ethics

Jurnal Keolahragaan is committed to maintaining academic integrity, transparency, originality, and the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing. This policy applies to authors, editors, reviewers, and all parties involved in the publication process. All editorial and publication activities are conducted objectively, fairly, and responsibly to maintain the quality and credibility of scholarly publications in the field of sports science and physical education.

1. Authors' Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that submitted manuscripts are original, are not under consideration for publication by another journal, and have not been previously published in a substantially similar form, unless appropriately disclosed and permitted under the journal's policies. Authors must report data and research findings accurately, cite all sources appropriately, obtain approval of the final manuscript from all authors, disclose conflicts of interest, and comply with applicable research ethics standards.

2. Editors' Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for evaluating manuscripts based on scientific quality, originality, relevance to the journal's focus and scope, and compliance with publication ethics. Editorial decisions must be objective and free from discrimination based on authors' identity, affiliation, gender, religion, nationality, or personal views. Editors must maintain manuscript confidentiality, disclose relevant conflicts of interest, and refrain from using unpublished information for personal benefit.

3. Reviewers' Responsibilities

Reviewers are responsible for providing objective, constructive, and timely assessments. They must maintain confidentiality, avoid conflicts of interest, provide evidence-based evaluations, and report suspected plagiarism, data manipulation, or other ethical violations to the editor. Information obtained during peer review must not be used for personal advantage.

4. Plagiarism Policy

Jurnal Keolahragaan does not tolerate any form of plagiarism, including direct plagiarism, paraphrasing plagiarism, the use of ideas or data without proper attribution, and self-plagiarism. All submitted manuscripts undergo similarity screening using plagiarism detection software, with a maximum similarity threshold of 20%. Manuscripts exceeding 20% will be evaluated by the editor and may be returned for revision or rejected. A similarity score does not automatically establish plagiarism; editors will consider the context, sources of similarity, quotations, and references before making a decision.

5. Allegation of Research Misconduct

Jurnal Keolahragaan takes allegations of research misconduct seriously, including data fabrication, data falsification, plagiarism, manipulation of research findings, authorship misconduct, and violations of ethical standards in research involving humans or animals. Each allegation will be assessed objectively based on the available evidence, and the parties concerned will be given an opportunity to respond. If misconduct is confirmed, the journal may reject the manuscript, request corrections, issue an expression of concern, or retract a published article. When necessary, the journal may coordinate with the authors' institutions or other relevant parties.

6. Conflict of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest that could affect the objectivity of research, peer review, or editorial decisions. Conflicts of interest may involve financial, professional, institutional, or personal relationships. Editors will take appropriate measures to ensure that conflicts are handled transparently and do not compromise the integrity of the publication process.

7. Authorship and Contributorship

Authorship must reflect genuine intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and accept responsibility for their contributions. Guest authorship, ghost authorship, omission of eligible authors, and changes to the author list without the agreement of the relevant parties are not permitted. Individual contributions must be disclosed transparently when requested by the journal.

8. Correction and Retraction

Jurnal Keolahragaan is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record. Errors in published articles will be assessed according to their nature and impact. Errors that can be corrected without undermining the reliability of the main findings may be addressed through a correction notice. Retraction may be considered when serious issues are identified, including plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, unjustified duplicate publication, or research findings that are no longer reliable. Decisions will be based on the available evidence, and the relevant parties will be given an opportunity to respond. Retracted articles will remain in the journal's archive, clearly marked as retracted and accompanied by an explanation of the reasons.

9. Post-Publication Discussion

Jurnal Keolahragaan welcomes comments, scholarly criticism, questions, and responses from readers, researchers, and the academic community regarding published articles. Post-publication discussion aims to encourage the exchange of knowledge and improve research quality and transparency. Contributions must be objective, evidence-based, professionally written, and respectful of academic ethics. Editors may review submissions before publication and may invite the authors of the relevant article to respond. Comments that are irrelevant, contain personal attacks, or make unsupported allegations may be rejected.

10. Confidentiality and Editorial Integrity

All parties involved in the editorial process must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and information obtained during submission, peer review, and publication. Unpublished manuscripts or information must not be disclosed or used without appropriate authorization. Allegations of ethical misconduct will be handled fairly, proportionately, and on the basis of evidence, while respecting confidentiality and the right of the parties concerned to respond.

11. Commitment to Publication Ethics

Jurnal Keolahragaan strives to follow established principles of scholarly publication ethics and uses the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) as one of its references for addressing publication ethics issues. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are original, properly cite all sources, and avoid all forms of plagiarism, including direct plagiarism, paraphrasing plagiarism, plagiarism of ideas and data, and self-plagiarism.

Manuscripts with a similarity score exceeding 20% will be evaluated by the editor and may be returned for revision or rejected, depending on the screening results.
