Jurnal Artefak is committed to maintaining academic integrity, transparency, and ethical standards throughout the scholarly publishing process. Any allegation of research misconduct involving authors, editors, reviewers, or other parties involved in the publication process will be handled seriously, objectively, fairly, and confidentially, in accordance with the journal's policies and applicable publication ethics principles.
Research misconduct includes, but is not limited to, data fabrication, data falsification, plagiarism, manipulation of images or research evidence, duplicate publication, simultaneous submission to multiple journals, inappropriate authorship attribution, omission of eligible contributors, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and violations of applicable research ethics approvals or requirements.
In historical research, misconduct may also include the falsification or manipulation of historical sources, citation of unverifiable sources, misleading presentation of evidence, and the unethical use of archives, documents, interviews, or testimonies without due consideration of source integrity and applicable ethical requirements.
Anyone with credible information or reasonable evidence of suspected misconduct may submit a written report to the editors of Jurnal Artefak through the journal's official communication channels. Reports should describe the alleged issue, identify the relevant manuscript or published article, provide available supporting evidence, and include any other relevant information. Reports made in good faith will be handled without discrimination or retaliation against the reporting party.
Upon receiving a report, the editors will conduct an initial assessment to evaluate the credibility and sufficiency of the information provided. Where necessary, the editors may request clarification from the parties concerned, examine relevant documents and supporting evidence, consult reviewers or independent experts, and contact the appropriate institutions. All relevant parties will be given a reasonable opportunity to respond before a decision is made.
Throughout the investigation, Jurnal Artefak will maintain confidentiality to the extent reasonably possible, protect the rights of the parties involved, avoid conflicts of interest, and uphold the presumption of innocence. An allegation will not be treated as an established finding of misconduct until an adequate assessment has been conducted based on the available evidence.
If misconduct is established, Jurnal Artefak will take proportionate action according to the nature and severity of the violation. Such action may include manuscript rejection, a request for correction, publication of a correction notice or retraction, notification of the relevant institution, or restrictions on future submissions where appropriate and consistent with the journal's policies. For published articles, editorial action will be taken transparently while safeguarding the integrity of the scholarly record.
Jurnal Artefak follows internationally recognized publication ethics principles, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), when handling allegations of research misconduct. All decisions will be evidence-based, fair, and guided by the journal's commitment to maintaining public trust in research and scholarly publishing.
