Correction and Retraction

Jurnal Artefak is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. When errors, inaccuracies, or ethical violations are identified in a published article, the journal will assess the matter and take appropriate editorial action based on the nature, severity, and impact of the issue on the reliability of the article.

Correction

A correction is issued when an error is identified in a published article and requires formal amendment, but does not undermine the overall validity or main conclusions of the research. Such errors may include inaccuracies in writing, bibliographic information, author details, data, tables, figures, or other content requiring clarification or amendment.

Requests for correction may be submitted to the editors of Jurnal Artefak by authors, readers, reviewers, or other parties with relevant information. The editors will examine the report and supporting evidence, seek clarification where necessary, and determine whether a formal correction is warranted. Each correction must identify the content being amended and, where relevant, explain the impact of the changes on the interpretation or conclusions of the article.

Approved corrections will be published transparently, with clear identification of the original article and an explanation of the amendments made. The publication record will be maintained to ensure that readers can identify the correct status and version of the article.

Retraction

A retraction may be issued when convincing evidence demonstrates that the findings or content of a published article are no longer reliable, either in their entirety or in a substantial part, or when serious publication ethics violations are identified. Grounds for retraction may include data fabrication or falsification, substantial plagiarism, manipulation of research evidence, unethical redundant publication, or other violations that materially compromise the integrity of the article.

In historical research, grounds for retraction may also include the falsification of historical sources, manipulation of documents or archival records, the use of evidence proven to be inauthentic, or misleading presentation of findings that substantially undermines the article's evidentiary basis or arguments.

A retraction decision will be made by the editors following an adequate assessment of the available evidence and, where necessary, consultation with reviewers, independent experts, or relevant institutions. The authors concerned will be given a reasonable opportunity to respond. Author consent is not an absolute prerequisite for retraction when the available evidence and editorial assessment justify such action.

A retraction notice will clearly and objectively explain the reasons for retraction, identify the affected article, and be linked to the original publication. The retracted article will remain in the journal's archive to preserve transparency and the integrity of the scholarly record, with a prominent indication that it has been retracted. The retraction notice will be openly accessible in accordance with the journal's policies.

Procedures and Principles

All reports concerning errors or suspected misconduct in published articles will be handled objectively, fairly, and confidentially during the assessment process. Jurnal Artefak will consider the available evidence, the severity of the issue, its impact on article reliability, and the rights of all parties involved.

When an issue cannot yet be conclusively established, the editors may take proportionate interim measures, including the publication of an editorial statement where appropriate. Corrections or retractions will not be issued solely because of scholarly disagreement, reasonable changes in interpretation, or academic criticism that does not establish a fundamental error or ethical violation.

Jurnal Artefak follows internationally recognized publication ethics principles, including the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), when determining appropriate corrective or retraction measures. The primary objective of this policy is to ensure that the scholarly record remains accurate, reliable, transparent, and accountable.
